Rainbow Club Casino's Promise Mural
The Rainbow Club Casino’s Promise Mural was created by local artist, Ozzy Villate, in 2009. The 50-by-19-foot mural was painted with the city’s history and future in mind.
In partnership with the Henderson Libraries, the Rainbow Club Casino commissioned this artwork to provide historic background on the city of Henderson. Every inch of the mural is symbolic: from the wavy waters that represent the mural’s home street, to the apple in the reading man’s hand which symbolizes the city’s “All People Promoting Literacy Efforts Partnership,” a program the city started in 2004.

The Rainbow Club Casino has been an iconic landmark on Water Street in the Historic Water Street District of Downtown Henderson since 1967. When twin brothers Tim and Mike Brooks were offered an opportunity to purchase the property from Peppermill Casinos, Inc., they did so with an eye to preserving the great traditions of the property and enhancing the guest experience. Tim and Mike Brooks have long operated the Emerald Island Casino which is just across Market Street from the Rainbow.
The Brooks Brothers purchased the Emerald Island in 2001. The property had previously housed the then shuttered Pot of Gold Casino. After two years of remodeling and rebranding the property including festooning the property with murals depicting a bucolic Irish town (to honor their Mother’s Irish heritage), upgrading the casino floor and remodeling the Emerald Island Grille restaurant, the Emerald Island Casino opened its doors in May of 2003 and quickly became the Local’s #1 Choice. After 17 years of operations of the Emerald Island, Nevada’s Only All Penny Casino, acquiring the Rainbow was a natural choice for the brothers.
The building which houses the Rainbow Club was built as part of the “company town” to provide goods and services for workers of the Basic Magnesium Company in World War II. Originally it opened as a grocery store, and, in 1967, became the Rainbow Club Casino. One of lesser known facts about the Rainbow Club, unless you are a longtime Henderson resident, is that at one time it had a one screen movie theater upstairs. The ticket window area for the theater still exists and is now an office for Rainbow Club Casino administrative support staff. The Rainbow Club Casino is also the site of one of the City of Henderson’s historic outdoor murals. Created by Henderson artist Ozzy Villate, the colorful art-deco mural is called “Promise” and reflects the city’s history and future.
Peppermill Casinos Inc. bought the property in 1984, and it became the Rainbow Club – A Peppermill Resort. The Brooks brothers purchased Rainbow Club on June 1, 2020 and re-opened the Casino on September 17, 2020.
In re-opening the casino, the Brooks brothers, knew that, the “promise” of the Rainbow Club involved not only acting as stewards for tradition but also looking to the future of the property. An initial exterior facelift has been completed and enhanced landscaping and architectural features are coming soon. The exterior neon canopy theatre casino sign has been restored to its former glory and the parking lot has been repaved. The interior of the casino has been spruced up as well. The bathrooms have been revamped and are beautiful and accessibility has been greatly improved. The former Images restaurant has been redecorated in a mid-century modern style. A new frozen bar featuring margaritas, daiquiris, Pina Coladas, Mudslides with rotating flavors and non-alcoholic options have been introduced to huge acclaim.
At the Rainbow Club, has also introduced new, all cash promotions including hourly wheel spin drawings, Rainbow Bar Video Poker Bonus , 4 Card Keno Bonus, Cash Back Sunday, and many more. The most exciting addition is Triple B Burgers & More located just inside the casino.
